The 16 Days of Activism against Gender based Violence takes place between 25 November and 10 December each year. The theme for 2021 is \u201cOrange the World: Fund, Respond, Prevent, Collect!\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

As the world retreated inside homes due to the lockdown measures introduced to curb the COVID-19 pandemic, reports showed an alarming increase in the already existing pandemic of violence against women across the world.<\/div>\n
This includes Domestic Abuse, Rape, Female Genital Mutilation, Trafficking, Child Brides, and much more, with Poverty at the root of some of these major issues.<\/div>\n

Soroptimist International (SI) and SIGBI both have consultative status at the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) at the United Nations (UN), which gives us a voice on important discussion papers, and allows us to attend the Commission on the Status of Women in New York each March, and contribute to the \u201cAgreed Conclusions\u201d.
