29 Sept 2016 – School Essay Writing Competition

Our club worked with Walthamstow School for Girls to sponsor a Essay writing competition for students.
Over 15 essays were received, all of so outstanding quality that it was difficult to choose a winner.
The prizes were handed over by Ms Joy Brown in a ceremony in Sept 2016. The winning essay was submitted by Coral.
A short summary of the prize giving ceremony can be found on the school’s website at (in PDF format).
It was such a success that the school and our club plan to repeat this project next year.

17 Oct 2015 – Mrs Linda Haldane

It was with great sadness that we received the news of the passing of Linda Haldane, a longstanding member of our club and former president of London Central. She was a Soroptimist for 45 years, and despite her illness Linda attended club meetings as long as she was able to.
She will be remembered with great love and affection by all who knew her.
