President Jen Simpson<\/strong>\u00a0opened the meeting. She reminded us that her theme for this year had been\u00a0\"\"<\/a><\/em>ACTIVE \u2013\u00a0Aspirational, Collaborative, Tenacious, Inspirational, Vocal and Empowering for Women and Girls globally.<\/em><\/div>\n

She told us that\u00a0the new Soroptimist International (SI) Presidents\u2019 Appeal has been announced \u2013 Women Water and Leadership \u2013 there is more info about this excellent project on the SI website<\/div>\n

Barbara DIxon<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 the Soroptimist International Great Britain & Ireland (SIGBI) Programme Director was our 1st speaker.<\/div>\n

She presented \u201cVision 2021\u201d as a DIrector of\u00a0 SIGBI. The presentation materials are not included here because they will be updated shortly with incoming SIGBI President Sue Biggs..<\/div>\n
The session was interactive with Barbara answering lots of questions on behalf of SIGBI.<\/div>\n

Our second speaker was the inspirational\u00a0Baroness Caroline Cox<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 nurse and social scientist \u2013 pictured here with President Jen. Her slide in the background says \u201cI cannot do everything but I must not do nothing\u201d ! She accepted the Honour to give a voice to those who don\u2019t have a voice. She has written a book about slavery call\u00a0\u201cThis Immoral Trade\u201d\u00a0<\/a><\/div>\n
As Caroline said herself when she was made a Baroness she was the first one she\u2019d ever met! Caroline was speaking as the founder of\u00a0HART<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 the Humanitarian Aid Relief Trust. Her presentation was stimulating \u2013 the slides are here:\u00a0Baroness Cox HART<\/a>\u00a0but they don\u2019t do it justice \u2013 she is a brilliant story-teller and puts such energy into everything she does. She said \u201cfasten your seatbelts\u201d and we needed to as she took us around the world in an hour via Armenia, Burma, Sudan, Uganda, Nigeria and Syria.<\/div>\n

\"\"AGM<\/strong> \u2013\u00a0the last part of the meeting was the AGM. Reports from all the Officers has been circulated ahead of the meeting, so they all just gave a brief summary.<\/p>\n

The finale was the installation of our new President Margaret Badley \u2013 pictured here after she has accepted the Regional Chain of Office from our now Immediate Past-President Jen Simpson.<\/p>\n

Everyone who was going to be attending the\u00a0Soroptimist International Great Britain & Ireland Conference in Cardiff\u00a0<\/a>was looking forward to getting together \u2013 55 Members of London Chilterns Region had booked to attend! The Conference theme, which was the SIGBI President\u2019s theme for the year was \u201cStep Up, Lead the Way\u201d.<\/div>\n
