On 7 March SI St Albans and District held an inspiring International Women\u2019s Day debate\u2026<\/strong><\/h5>\n

The panel and audience discussed\u00a0the question:<\/strong>\u00a0Are Women their own worst enemy?<\/strong>\u00a0the answer: yes and no \u2013 it\u2019s complicated!<\/strong><\/p>\n

St Albans Soroptimists<\/strong>\u00a0and sponsors, The Talent Keeper Specialists<\/a>\u00a0held a lively debate with an expert panel. The event was broadcast live and is available as a podcast from\u00a0\u00a0www.radioverulam.com\/show\/the-parents-show\/<\/a>\u00a0listen again to 7 March at 8pm<\/strong><\/p>\n

Animated discussions covered: equality, women and employability, domestic abuse, health, societal and media pressure on women and how women experience the criminal justice system.<\/p>\n

The event was chaired by The Thinking Woman\u2019s Coach, Dr Jessica Chivers<\/strong>\u00a0and the panelists were\u00a0Claire Harvey \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>Director of Culture and Inclusion at EDIT Development,\u00a0Min Rodruiguez<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 head of inclusion and diversity at the Law Society,\u00a0Chandni Hanif \u2013<\/strong>\u00a0Luton-based,Director of fashion business Urban HAYA,\u00a0Dannielle Lemaire \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>Law student, University of Durham, College rep for DUACAS (Durham University Afro-Caribbean Society) and\u00a0Dr Laura Abbott\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013\u00a0Senior Lecturer and Fellow of The Royal College of Midwives and\u00a0one of the world\u2019s experts on pregnancy in prison.<\/em><\/p>\n

Profit from the event goes to the St Albans and Hertsmere<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Welwyn Hatfield<\/a>\u00a0women\u2019s refuges.<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n
