Soroptimist Clubs across the country and across our Region are holding Orange Cafe events on or near the 25th of each month.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The 25th of the month is “Orange Day”<\/strong><\/span> – a day when the United Nations and Soroptimists call upon activists, to mobilise people and highlight issues relevant to preventing and ending violence against women and girls<\/strong>, not only once a year on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, but every month. \u201cOrange Day\u201d<\/strong> <\/span>is a day to raise awareness and take action to end violence against women and girls. As a bright and optimistic colour, orange represents a future free from violence against women and girls.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>SI Thames Valley marked the occasion on 25 Feb 2024\u00a0 and the Ark Caf\u00e9 turned Orange<\/span>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Congratulations to the Club – the fabulous photo of Club Members with the Club banner won SIGBI Photo of the Month for February!<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Methodist Church of Marlow generously allowed the Soroptimists of the Thames Valley club to visit their popular Ark Caf\u00e9. The aim of the Soroptimists was to highlight their ongoing project which makes people aware of help for victims of Violence against Women and Girls.<\/p>\n

Leaflets were handed out listing places where help is available and SI Thames Valley drew particular attention to Wycombe Women\u2019s Aid, a local charity with whom they work closely.<\/p>\n

Peggy Simson is pictured chatting to some ladies who were very interested in why and what the Club was doing – and offered to take leaflets away and disseminate them to other women.\u00a0 They also took some Soroptimist leaflets and agreed to the use of their photograph. A new Member of SI Thames Valley joined in – she will have her induction to the Club at their March meeting.<\/div>\n
