President Stella, Val and\u00a0Maureen were joined by the President of SI Ashton-under-Lyne, Yvonne Cartey, and Regional PAC\u00a0Chair, Margaret Molyneux of SI Leigh.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small\">The National Trust aims to plant 100,000 snowdrops this September at various sites throughout\u00a0the city at drop-in sessions, and the planting took place in Parsonage Gardens on the day we went. The Trust has bought in selected bulbs from Holland that are expected to flower on the first year of\u00a0planting.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small\">We were given reflective jackets to wear and spent a few hours on our knees planting the bulbs in\u00a0holes cut out of the turf\u00a0(by t<span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">h<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">e stronger volunteers) and repl<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">acing the divots.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 14.3999996185303px;line-height: 21.6000003814697px\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-318 aligncenter\" style=\"font-size: 14.3999996185303px;line-height: 21.6000003814697px\" alt=\"Snowdrops 3\" src=\"\/manchester\/files\/2014\/09\/Snowdrops-3-300x235.jpg\" width=\"162\" height=\"127\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/manchester\/files\/2014\/09\/Snowdrops-3-300x235.jpg 300w, https:\/\/sigbi.org\/manchester\/files\/2014\/09\/Snowdrops-3.jpg 919w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 162px) 100vw, 162px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small\">The weather was kind\u00a0to us (no Manchester rain) and many of the city workers came to take their lunch in the peaceful\u00a0square and watch what was going on. Some of them even had a go at planting some bulbs.
