Donnell was visiting an old friend and work colleague in Manchester on her way back home to Australia from the United Nations in New York. Donnell had delivered a paper in New York with good news as well as highlighting areas of concern. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px\">Her message was whilst there has been progress on climate change there is a need for greater focus on adolescence issues and women\u2019s reproductive health.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/manchester\/files\/2025\/04\/image0-4.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-6042 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/manchester\/files\/2025\/04\/image0-4-225x300.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/manchester\/files\/2025\/04\/image0-4-225x300.jpeg 225w, https:\/\/sigbi.org\/manchester\/files\/2025\/04\/image0-4.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><span style=\"font-size: 18px\">We arranged to meet at The Pankhurst Centre the former home of Emmeline Pankhurst who, along with her sister Christabel, were the charismatic leaders of the Women\u2019s Social and Political Union. The movement became known as the suffragettes.<\/span><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px\">We had lunch in the Whitworth Art Gallery with the added attraction of an exhibition entitled Women Who Revolt which gave rise to some interesting discussion.<\/span><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px\">Sue then gave Donnell a tour of Salford Quays which included the Centenary Walkway.
