George Lane from the Manchester Airport\u00a0Chaplaincy.<\/p>\n<p>This is a workplace chaplaincy for over 20,000 workers at the airport, and also offers pastoral and\u00a0humanitarian aid to anyone who may be in trouble on the site. He and his colleagues work closely\u00a0with the airport customer care team and the police, and offer non-denominational support to\u00a0people of all faiths who are in need of help. With over 24 million people coming through the airport\u00a0per year, they deal with a wide range of issues including human trafficking, forced marriage and\u00a0homelessness.<\/p>\n<p>Their philosophy is that \u201cit\u2019s about people\u201d who are considered as human beings (rather than\u00a0passengers or customers) and help is given according to their individual needs.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/manchester\/files\/2016\/04\/Speaker-March-16.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-644\" src=\"\/manchester\/files\/2016\/04\/Speaker-March-16-300x236.jpg\" alt=\"Speaker March 16\" width=\"300\" height=\"236\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/manchester\/files\/2016\/04\/Speaker-March-16-300x236.jpg 300w, https:\/\/sigbi.org\/manchester\/files\/2016\/04\/Speaker-March-16.jpg 521w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The speaker at our March meeting was the Rev.
