[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”139″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]The theme for my year as President is \u201cEnabling Partnerships.\u201d I am \u201cA people\u2019s
\nperson.\u201d . My job, as a Specialist Advisory Teacher,\u00a0supporting children who have severe complex and life long special needs, has allowed me to work with a wide variety of people. Most important of all, working with parents\u00a0 and helping them to understand their child\u2019s needs and to watch as\u00a0they grow in knowledge, confidence and expertise. Partnership didn\u2019t stop with parents, but also encompassed working with other professionals initially from the health service and\u00a0 within education. To work well in a
\npartnership is very satisfying, sharing expertise and learning from each other.
\nI have also loved planning and delivering training, sharing my passion and knowledge with others, but it has always been reciprocal; we can learn so much from each other.<\/p>\n

My charities reflects my personal interests, and I have chosen two!!! One close to home \u201cThe Bluebell Wood Hospice\u201d for children and young people and the other much further a field,. It is \u201cPartner” a Project in India,
\nhelping Dalit and tribal women who are battling poverty, Lack of education and gender discrimination.<\/p>\n

I was particularly keen to support this charity because there is a Project partner on the spot, working with the women and also running workshops on key issues such as malaria prevention, child trafficking and domestic violence.\u00a0 A friend of mine who worked in the Caribbean was told\u00a0 \u201cI don\u2019t want to be your project”, I want
\nto be your partner<\/p>\n

Being a Soroptomist is much more than fund raising for rwomen and girls who are less fortunate than ourselves. It\u2019s about friendship and enabling partnerships.<\/p>\n

In our Mansfield and District group we work hard and\u00a0 play hard. We enjoy being together. Over the last year we raised \u00a33,340.10. \u00a31,000 to the Bluebell Hospice and the rest to Partner, a project in India<\/p>\n
