President Kam welcomed our speaker Nicola Roberts CEO Bassetlaw MIND & guest Kath Whittingham Bolsover District Council, Former Head of Democratic Services.<\/p>\n

What an enlightening evening with Kam\u2019s 2nd speaker who is the CEO Bassetlaw MIND, Nicola Roberts!\u00a0 Nicola clarified the difference between the local & national MIND office, which was very useful for us as we are going to raise funds for our local area. We were informed that in October this year there are plans to merge all the local branches in the Nottinghamshire area. As Kam\u2019s intention was to support the local branch for her year, she came across Nicola via the St Johns Street Office Nicola talked about her work with the service users and organisations for\"\" delivering work place training for front-line staff. She also mentioned how we could help raise awareness & funds for them & to ensure that it will be directed to local needs.<\/p>\n

She talked about mental well-being including drugs & alcohol abuse & the different types of mental health which may arise at anytime, through personal experiences & crisis for instance losing a beloved family member. It is essential to open up, to break down barriers therefore reducing stigma & hopefully obtaining the right support & treatments.
\nKam expressed her concerns with different cultures coping with mental health. As it is prevalent in respect of the current multi-racial society & differences between cultural attitudes to mental health.<\/p>\n

Lots of interesting questions were exchanged during the course of the talk. As a whole Nicola & her team have been making steady progress by providing a holistic approach for individuals on the road to recovery.<\/p>\n
