Long term friendships were established\u00a0and one of those is between Julia and Ilse Heinzen-Dammeier\u00a0from Osnabruck club.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/3&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;1004&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; add_caption=&#8221;yes&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221; title=&#8221;Julia and Ilse&#8221;][\/vc_column][vc_column][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/3&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;1005&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221;][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text]This is Ilse who was visiting Kent and staying with Julia.<\/p>\n<p>They are both seen here\u00a0together at Julia\u2019s having been joined by another Medway\u00a0member, Jane Barnes. They took advantage of the opportunity\u00a0to catch upon the news of what has been happening for each\u00a0club in relation to\u00a0membership, communication and programme\u00a0action projects and how we can work together and share good\u00a0practice.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text]Following an invitation from SI Osnabruck\u2019s\u00a0President Marie-Luise to visit them this year \u2013\u00a0work is underway planning SI Medway\u2019s next\u00a0friendship weekend visit in December that will\u00a0coincide with the popular Christmas Market\u00a0season.<\/p>\n<p>Our friendship continues to grow stronger and in 2026 SI Osnabruck celebrate their 25th anniversary in October.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/3&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;1006&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_media_grid element_width=&#8221;3&#8243; gap=&#8221;10&#8243; grid_id=&#8221;vc_gid:1770907237992-4dc913bd-daf3-6&#8243; include=&#8221;4635,4634,4636,4637,4638,4639,4640,4641&#8243;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][\/vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]22 Soroptimists from 5 clubs came together on Saturday 20 February, (UN Day of Social Justice) for their regular Zoom Friendship Link meeting.\u00a0 Soroptimists from SI Medway and Maidstone, SI Heswall, SI Le Quesnoy in France, SI Voorburg in The Netherlands, and SI Osnabruck in Germany met to exchange ideas for membership extension and retention, and programme action.\u00a0 Unfortunately, members of SI Accra could not join us on this occasion, but one of our members is staying in Ghana and joined us representing them.<\/p>\n<p>We will be celebrating our 75<sup>th<\/sup> Anniversary on 3 June and marking it by doing activities with a \u201875\u2019 theme.\u00a0 one of these is Project Hope, which aims to send 75 cards or letters to women in prisons in Kent, Peterborough, and Surrey as they are unable to have visitors at present and are feeling the isolation so much. SI Heswall were keen to join in and SI Voorburg thought there might be an opportunity for them to do something similar in Holland.<\/p>\n<p>We discussed how the clubs were trying to get new members in these difficult times and all agreed that retention of existing members was equally as important.<\/p>\n<p>SI Osnabruck left us with a smile by showing a photograph of one of their new younger members with her newborn child born this week.<\/p>\n<p>Next month on 8 March as Soroptimists we will all be celebrating International Women\u2019s Day and the theme this year is #ChoosetoChallenge and so we were all proud to hold our hand up to show we are in as from challenge comes
