{"id":4808,"date":"2020-06-02T15:36:03","date_gmt":"2020-06-02T14:36:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/medway-maidstone\/?p=4808"},"modified":"2020-06-02T15:36:03","modified_gmt":"2020-06-02T14:36:03","slug":"how-did-soroptimist-jules-fundraise-for-macmillan-in-lockdown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/medway-maidstone\/2020\/06\/02\/how-did-soroptimist-jules-fundraise-for-macmillan-in-lockdown\/","title":{"rendered":"How Did Soroptimist Jules Fundraise for MacMillan in Lockdown?"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]One of our newer members in SI Medway and Maidstone, Jules Taylor likes the outdoor lifestyle and keeping active by taking part in Park runs and triathlons.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In these unprecedented times when we all need to stay at home to protect ourselves and society at large, Jules signed up to compete the virtual Castle Tri Series.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Series consisted of three events named after the host countries where they would have been held before lockdown, over three weekends during April and May and providing the opportunity to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support.<\/p>\n<p>Event 1: Vive La France (24th \u2013 26th April)<\/p>\n<p>Event 2: VE Day 75th Anniversary (8th- 10th May)<\/p>\n<p>Event 3: Luck of the Irish (22nd \u2013 24th May)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For each event Jules ran 5k on day 1, cycling 20k on day 2 and ran 2.5k on day 3.\u00a0 As part of her one-hour daily exercise outdoors, she was able to complete the runs, but she was cycling in her own garden on a turbo\/static bike.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>She successfully completed the 5k run element of the third event early on the morning of 22 May by running around the Esplanade and High Street, Rochester, maintaining social distancing.\u00a0 She was proudly wearing a Soroptimist International Kente Sash as she ran.\u00a0 That day, Jules achieved a personal best time which she felt must have been due to the \u2018luck of the Irish\u2019 being with her.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>SI Medway and Maidstone members sponsored Jules for \u00a3150 with all donated monies going to Macmillan Cancer Support.\u00a0 This will enable MacMillan to continue to deliver the physical, emotional and financial support to those living with cancer and their families, helping them to live life as fully as they can.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_media_grid gap=&#8221;15&#8243; grid_id=&#8221;vc_gid:1591107934205-48003004-c3ac-1&#8243; include=&#8221;4811,4813,4818,4812,4815,4814&#8243;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]One of our newer members in SI Medway and Maidstone, Jules Taylor likes the outdoor&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":730,"featured_media":4823,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[3],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-4808","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-club-news"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.4 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>How Did Soroptimist Jules Fundraise for MacMillan in Lockdown? | News | Blog | Events | SI Medway and Maidstone<\/title>\n<meta name=\"description\" content=\"SI Medway and Maidstone : Blog &amp; News : How Did Soroptimist Jules Fundraise for MacMillan in Lockdown? : Keep up to date with the latest news, articles and events from the Soroptimists of SI Medway and Maidstone .
