{"id":6356,"date":"2023-09-21T13:49:00","date_gmt":"2023-09-21T12:49:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/medway-maidstone\/?p=6356"},"modified":"2023-10-12T14:08:29","modified_gmt":"2023-10-12T13:08:29","slug":"who-was-sewing-for-byron-school-over-the-summer-break","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/medway-maidstone\/2023\/09\/21\/who-was-sewing-for-byron-school-over-the-summer-break\/","title":{"rendered":"Who was sewing for Byron School over the Summer break?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A request was made by Byron Primary School to Medway and Maidstone Soroptimists who they work in partnership with. <!--more-->This was to assist with sewing rainbow material onto twenty five turtles to become Rocky the Turtle mascots for their Right Respecting School initiative and making drawstring bags for each class for home learning to start in the new September term.<a href=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/medway-maidstone\/files\/2023\/09\/Rocky-mascot.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-6358 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/medway-maidstone\/files\/2023\/09\/Rocky-mascot.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"391\" height=\"293\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/medway-maidstone\/files\/2023\/09\/Rocky-mascot.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/sigbi.org\/medway-maidstone\/files\/2023\/09\/Rocky-mascot-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 391px) 100vw, 391px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Jane Barnes took on the sewing task over the summer and was able to deliver the completed turtles and bags to the school. This meant that they were able to launch their Rocky the Rights-Respecting Turtle home learning. Its<a href=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/medway-maidstone\/files\/2023\/09\/Bag-for-Rocky-and-Folder.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-6359 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/medway-maidstone\/files\/2023\/09\/Bag-for-Rocky-and-Folder.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"296\" height=\"394\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/medway-maidstone\/files\/2023\/09\/Bag-for-Rocky-and-Folder.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/sigbi.org\/medway-maidstone\/files\/2023\/09\/Bag-for-Rocky-and-Folder-225x300.jpeg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 296px) 100vw, 296px\" \/><\/a> aim is to encourage the children to talk about the UN Rights of the Child with adults and siblings at home.<\/p>\n<p>Each week a member of the class takes home Rocky the Turtle with information about it and a letter.
