{"id":7079,"date":"2025-11-28T11:10:57","date_gmt":"2025-11-28T11:10:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/medway-maidstone\/?p=7079"},"modified":"2026-01-08T11:43:18","modified_gmt":"2026-01-08T11:43:18","slug":"christmas-hampers-for-medway-and-maidstone-womens-refuges","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/medway-maidstone\/2025\/11\/28\/christmas-hampers-for-medway-and-maidstone-womens-refuges\/","title":{"rendered":"Christmas Hampers for Medway and Maidstone Women\u2019s Refuges"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]As part of the\u00a016 Days of Activism\u00a0each year, we provide Christmas hampers and gifts to the local Women\u2019s Refuges.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Contact was made with each Refuge to find out how many women and children are being supported to know how many we needed to cater for.<\/p>\n<p>An application was made to\u00a0 Medway Soroptimist Charitable Trust for up\u00a0 to \u00a3400 to fund food, toiletries, and gifts for the hampers.<\/p>\n<p>On 22 November, members filled the hampers. Seven large boxes had been wrapped in Christmas paper ready for filling. The hampers were filled with mince pies, Christmas puddings, custard, chocolate biscuits, cheese biscuits, Christmas cake, tubs of sweets, Christmas crackers, crisps and various savoury nibbles plus fruit juices and sparkling drinks. A gift was bought and wrapped for each of the women. Members bought the children\u2019s gifts.<\/p>\n<p>We wanted to ensure the Women and children have a good Christmas and know they are not forgotten.<\/p>\n<p>Jane delivered 6 hampers to the Medway Refuge plus a gift of \u00a3100 for their Emergency Fund. They were really pleased appreciating our on-going commitment and support.
