Who picked my tea?

Traidcraft Exchange, a UK international development charity that specialises in trade and business, have launched a campaign called ‘Who picked my tea?’.

The campaign highlights the appalling conditions of women tea workers in Assam, India, who pick tea for the British market for £1.50 per day. Many of the women live in broken houses, don’t have access to basic sanitation, proper food or healthcare.

The campaign calls on the biggest British tea brands to do more to address this, and as a first step, to publish where they buy their tea from.
