Congratulations SI St Albans and District on winning the Mayor’s Pride Award

Congratulations to Soroptimist International St Albans and District, who has WON the Mayor’s Pride Award in the Voluntary Sector Category – it’s brilliant for the Club to be recognised in this way!

The picture is of the three finalists (Soroptimist Jane Slatter is on the right), with the Mayor of St Albans, Councillor Rosemary Farmer at the front. The other finalists in the Voluntary Sector were the St Albans Museum Volunteers (on the left) and the St Albans Helping the Homeless Group. Members of the Club Barbara Saunders, Jane Slatter and Katherine Clark all attended the awards event to represent the Club. Barbara said “We could hardly believe it when we won because the other finalists would have been truly worthy winners.”

The whole event was lovely and wonderful to hear about the work of so many inspirational people and groups in the St Albans area.

The story is on the Club website and includes a link to the radio broadcast of the award announcement, Jane Slatter’s acceptance speech and the interview with Jane, Barbara and Kat on the Radio Verulam Broadcast : www.sigbi.org/st-albans/2019/mpa/
