St Vincent and the Grenadines elected to UN Security Council

Congratulations to St Vincent and the Grenadines, who have just been elected to the UN Security Council and become the smallest nation to ever secure a seat.

This is great news for our Club in St Vincent and the Grenadines and also other Clubs in the Carribbean.

One Soroptimist in Jamaica said, “The Caribbean countries must work together and support St Vincent when voting takes place, it is an opportunity for the Caribbean, particularly the small island states, to have its voice heard.”

This is of particular note given the successful Programme Resolutions at our conference in Liverpool last year, regarding the impact of climate change on small island states. A number of governments have now declared climate change an emergency.
