Club Mailings – October 2020

16 October 2020

SIGBI News Briefing – 16 October 2020

SIGBI SOCIAL MEDIA RECRUITMENT CAMPAIGN – Although this is included in this week’s SIGBI News Briefing, as all members can use the toolkit to post items on social media, it is repeated here as it is particularly of interest to Clubs, as they may wish to take out a Facebook Ad to boost the campaign. SIGBI does want to track any new members that are recruited as a direct result of this campaign. Please read the letter below, and visit the SIGBI Website (log into the members’ area before following the link below) to take advantage of the Recruitment Toolkit:

HARNESS THE POWER OF GOOGLE MY BUSINESS – Would you like your local club to show up in the search results when local women search for ‘women’s clubs near me’ or ‘clubs to join near me’? Hundreds of searches like this happen every day, so it can be an excellent way of finding new members and reaching out to your local community. You can also ensure your club information can be found quickly and easily by anyone wishing to look for organisations and activities like ours.  If you’d like to find out how you can make this local SEO work for your club, then join our webinar on Thursday 19th November, 13:30 – 14:30 and learn how to make use of the free Google My Business tools to put your club on the map. Email sally@sigbi.org to confirm you would like to attend the webinar, and a link for the webinar will be sent to you nearer the date.

9 October 2020 – additional mailing

This is an additional club mailing, so there is no accompanying SIGBI News Briefing.

STATEMENT RE SIGBI PROJECT, EMPOWERING GIRLS IN NEPAL – The following statement is from the Board of SIGBI Ltd.  An update will follow in due course.

“It is with great disappointment that we have had to put on hold the Empowering Girls in Nepal project for the moment. We have been made aware of difficulties between ChoraChori Nepal and ChoraChori UK which have impacted on the project. Currently, we are working to establish the facts so that we can report to you and the Charity Commission and decide, through discussion with ChoraChori UK, how to resolve the issues. For the moment we would advise clubs to retain funds they have raised until we have further advice.”

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL CHILD VIDEO – SI Europe has produced a video, on behalf of Soroptimist International, which has been contributed to by all five Federations. This should be shared as widely as possible via Social Media on the International Day of the Girl Child, Sunday 11 October 2020. SIGBI will be posting it to all our social media channels on that day, so either retweet or repost our messages, or add your own, linking to the video below, thank you:
