SI Goals and Objectives 2015-2019

Soroptimist International Great Britain and Ireland (SIGBI) works to the goals and objectives agreed by all parts of Soroptimist International (SI).  Goal 1 concerns advocacy at international level, and is only for SI work.

The Federations each work towards the objectives under Goal 2.  Each objective under Goal 2 relates directly to several of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and so projects that fall within any of these objectives will be contributing towards the SDGs.

All work should be reported in the SIGBI Programme Database by clicking “Manage Membership and Programme Databases” in the top LH menu, and then the large blue “Add a Programme Report” button.  Complete the form and click “Submit”.  A full instruction manual for inputting reports is available.

Instructions for searching for reports is given in the Search Membership and Programme Databases manual.

Programme Focus 2015-2019:

Note that only Soroptimist International reports work done under Goal 1.  The four Federations all work towards the focus under Goal 2.

Goal 1: Soroptimist International will be a global voice for women and girls

Objectives:

  1. Increase Soroptimist advocacy at the global level
  2. Increase the international visibility and profile of Soroptimist International

Goal 2: The Soroptimist federations will be linked in their efforts to improve the lives of women and girls through education, empowerment and enabling opportunities.

The focus for Goal 2 will be projects in the areas of:

  1. Education
  2. Elimination of violence
  3. Economic empowerment
  4. Food security
  5. Healthcare
  6. Environmental sustainability/water and sanitation
  7. Conflict resolution/peace promotion
  8. Disaster mitigation and relief

Good projects cover several, if not most, Programme Areas.  Assistant Programme Directors are responsible for each of the Programme Areas: Economic EmpowermentEducationEnvironmental Sustainability, Food Security and Healthcare and Violence and Conflict Resolution.

Many projects will also include Advocacy.

The Assistant Programme Directors work with the Federation Programme Director, as a co-ordinated team.
