UN Days 2020 – Measuring our Impact

We have chosen four of the UN Days around which we will create a toolkit to be used by Clubs. Do get involved on social media to raise awareness and get our voices heard. Use our suggested messages and add your own photos of your members doing the equal sign.

The four days that have been chosen in 2020 are: International Women’s Day, World Environment Day, SIGBI Day of Action and 16 Days of Activism.

We will create a toolkit for you to use for each of these four days, and after the event we will circulate a survey asking for you to submit your social media stats. Instructions on how to do this will be included.

Do join in. Let us know how many people you reached, and let’s tally up the total reach for SIGBI for each special day.

SIGBI Day of Action 2020

The SIGBI Day of Action is on Saturday 18 July 2020.

The theme for this day was originally Climate Change, but with the situation we have been in since the beginning of the year, the theme is now #SoroptimistsConnect.

How are you connecting with each other and with your local community during lockdown? Use this opportunity to let the world know what you are doing to help during the pandemic. Remember to use the hashtag #SoroptimistsConnect.

A toolkit has been developed for Members, Clubs, Regions/National Associations/Networks to use. Click on the relevant item below to download it for your use. A video for sharing will be available nearer the date:

Social Media Headers and post ideas for the SIGBI Day of Action

The top item is a selection of suitable messages (in WORD for easy copying and pasting) that can be used on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

The items below are various images, that you can use on the different platforms, either as your header or within a post. Some have an image already inserted so that you can just use it, and others (labelled blank) have a space to add your own image, which you can do in Publisher, PowerPoint or Canva.

Not sure how to do this? Read some simple instructions.

Click the link then right click on the image to “Save As . . .” to your computer.

Clubs should use this template Day of Action Press Release (WORD format) to encourage press coverage of their action.

International Volunteers Week 2020

This year, National Volunteers’ Week is running from Monday 1st June to Sunday 7th June.

Here is another opportunity to celebrate your volunteering work, sharing your stories on your websites and through social media channels. Whether you’re volunteering to support the NHS, other organisations or charities, or you are volunteering in your local community or supporting an international project, tell your story and use the logo and the hashtag #Soroptimistsvolunteer. If you tag us in on Facebook Soroptimist International GBI and on Twitter @SIGBI1 we will like, share and retweet too. And make sure you do the same for all the other posts you see from other Clubs, let’s let everyone know #Soroptimistsvolunteer. There are two versions of the logo below which you can use with your posts.

World Environment Day 2020

World Environment Day is on 5 June 2020. Soroptimist International Great Britain and Ireland (SIGBI) have provided social media messages for Clubs/Regions/NAs/Networks and Members to use throughout this day. The theme is #ForNature, and two images are also provided for you to include with your social media posts. We will not circulate a survey on this occasion to evaluate the reach.

International Women’s Day 2020

international-womens-day-toolkit

Soroptimist International Great Britain and Ireland (SIGBI) have provided a toolkit for Clubs/Regions/NAs/Networks and Members to use during International Women’s Day 2020, promoting this year’s theme, An Equal World is an Enabled World.

We encourage Soroptimists everywhere to create their social media posts using the bespoke messages that we have produced, tailored for Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, and adding a photograph of themselves doing the Equal Sign, using the frames provided (as in the example shown) – simply use PowerPoint or Publisher to add your photograph. You can also use any of the pictures that are in our Flickr album.

The hashtags to use are #SoroptimistsStandUpforWomen, #EachforEqual, #GenerationEquality

Use the press release to let your local media know about your campaign.
