{"id":302,"date":"2013-09-22T19:56:42","date_gmt":"2013-09-22T18:56:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/middlesbrough\/?p=302"},"modified":"2013-09-22T20:08:56","modified_gmt":"2013-09-22T19:08:56","slug":"some-snapshots-of-un-international-day-of-peace-21092013","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/middlesbrough\/2013\/09\/22\/some-snapshots-of-un-international-day-of-peace-21092013\/","title":{"rendered":"Some Snapshots of UN International Day of Peace (21\/09\/2013)&#8230;!!!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SI Middlesbrough celebrated\u00a0UN International Day of Peace\u00a0with a talk by member Shahda Khan MBE about her recent visit, with a group of other north-eastern women, to the UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) in Geneva. The purpose of the visit was to lobby governments to take more effective action on discrimination and violence against women in its many forms.<\/p>\n<p>Shahda\u2019s talk was illuminating and revealed major deficits in government policy in the UK.
