President Margaret is in a summery mood with her Regional President\u2019s Message \u2013 July 2021…<\/span>Hello there everyone,<\/span><\/p>\n

There is a lot for cautious optimism around now that restrictions are more relaxed and I <\/span>hope you will all begin to feel better for it.\u00a0 Throughout the year your Club activities have\u00a0<\/span>continued with gusto and I salute you ladies for your continued efforts.\u00a0 You really do make a real <\/span>difference for the better.<\/span><\/p>\n

Whilst Zoom training and meetings still persist it is good to hear of some Clubs being able to\u00a0<\/span>meet again.\u00a0 It\u2019s great to feel we are getting back into the swing of things. We are now of\u00a0<\/span>course being besieged by reminders from SIGBI to sign up for their Llandudno Conference\u00a0<\/span>in October and the SI Conference too, not to mention the SI Convention in July 2023 which\u00a0<\/span>is being held in Dublin!<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Regional<\/a>On a lighter note SIGBI are delighted to announce not only No.67 Gin but also SIGBI Wines\u00a0<\/span>available from the Online Shop<\/a>.\u00a0 They are also producing lots of Digital Banners because of our <\/span>Centenary – a SIGBI banner, a History banner, a Climate Change banner, a Tree Planting\u00a0<\/span>banner, a The Future banner and of course an SI banner.\u00a0 These will also be available to\u00a0<\/span>Clubs at Conference and Online.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the Home Front it is good to know that the new Domestic Abuse Bill could include our\u00a0<\/span>Clause accepting Self Defence when victims try to defend themselves with what is deemed a <\/span>weapon.\u00a0 It\u2019s great that mothers can now sign their off springs\u2019 wedding vows as well as the\u00a0<\/span>father. Equal Pay awards are springing up here and there too, mostly in the media industry\u00a0<\/span>but at least women are getting a better deal now.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Regional<\/a>It was exciting to read that a group of schoolgirls aged 11 – 16 years have scooped \u00a320,000\u00a0<\/span>in Amazon\u2019s technology contest.\u00a0 They created an application that translates British Sign\u00a0<\/span>Language into Speech and Speech into BSL.\u00a0 How fantastic is that?!\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In sport the England\u00a0<\/span>Women\u2019s Football Team won in Europe,\u00a0 England’s women cricketers have also performed brilliantly, and who knows what Team GB<\/a> will win at the Tokyo <\/span>Olympics?<\/span><\/p>\n

Club Charter Dinners are now being arranged and I look forward to attending and reporting on them.<\/span><\/p>\n
