In the latest of our occasional series Club Focus: Around the Wrekin<\/strong>, Hilary Knight, <\/span>President SI The Wrekin updates us on the activities of her Club in recent weeks…<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\"SI<\/a>Club had our plant stall at Wellington on Saturday 21 May, which was very successful. We had lots of plants for sale and gave away seeds. We also encouraged children to plant sunflower seeds. Our stall was very popular and everything went quite quickly. We made \u00a3100 profit and more importantly we talked to a lot of people about Soroptimists and generated a lot of interest. I particularly liked the giant sunflower!\"SI<\/a><\/p>\n

Thanks to everyone who contributed and those who helped out on the day. Special thanks to Marion for a constant supply of hot drinks and a toilet!<\/p>\n

\"SI<\/a>On Tuesday 7 June we went for our monthly well-being walk and lunch at Cound (pronounced “COOnd” and rhymes with spooned). Once a busy and industrious river port Cound has now reverted to a quiet rural community and dormitory village, for commuters to the commercial centres of Shrewsbury and Telford. Five of us had a lovely walk, not too strenuous, mainly along the river Severn from Cound. It was a lovely day for a walk, and eight of us had lunch together at the Riverside Inn. The weather was kind enough to let us sit outside. I think we all enjoyed ourselves and it was lovely to catch up with everyone.<\/p>\n

\"SI<\/a>Linda represents the club as a member of the Wellington Climate Emergency Steering Group<\/a> who are aiming to achieve plastic-free status for Wellington. A litter pick took place in Wellington on Sunday 12 June. Linda, Lindsay and I helped out and we spent a couple of hours clearing litter from the roads, paths and carparks in Wellington. It was quite good fun and we found a lot of litter. I hope you like the high-vis!!<\/p>\n

We also enjoy a regular Book Club and our next Club social event is on Tuesday 12 July, when we are meeting for dinner at the CSons Restaurant in Shrewsbury.<\/p>\n
