More funds for the defibrillator

This year the members of SI Morecambe and Heysham are working with the staff of Morecambe Library to raise funds to provide a defibrillator to be placed on the outside of Morecambe library for the use of the community in central Morecambe.

The Library staff have raised funds during their Christmas Fair and at a concert given by the local ukelele band, alongside the sale of books throughout the year. Many thanks go to the Library staff for their support of the project and to the people of Morecambe who attended these events and contributed generously.

One of our members, Carol, also raised a substantial amount for the fund by selling second hand books in her café in Morecambe – thank you to the customers who bought the books for this worthwhile cause.

SI Morecambe and Heysham’s main fund raising event for the project was the annual Coffee Morning held at the Gaskell Hall, Silverdale, at the end of February.

The morning was very successful and we raised over £600.00 towards the fund.

The members of SI Morecambe and Heysham would like to thank everyone who helped to make the Coffee morning such a success: from James and Warwick who braved the cold to man the door of the Hall, partners, friends and other Soroptimists who came along to help run the stalls and serve coffee, the Silverdale ladies who ran the clothes stall, local shopkeepers who contributed to the funds and the people of Silverdale who, once again, came along to support us on a cold morning.
