In 2016 we changed the date of our Friendship Evening from January (dark nights and not always good travelling weather for guests to travel from far-reaching parts of our Region) to September. This proved successful and President Bonnie introduced our guest speaker:
“I am very excited about our speaker, Dr Mary Searle-Chatterjee, a retired anthropologist. She and I met through our work with Lancaster and Morecambe City of Sanctuary, helping at the English lessons for asylum seekers.
Her talk is entitled “Aspects of Islam – A Social Political Approach”.”
It was a very interesting and enjoyable meeting – thanks to Dr Mary Searle-Chatterjee, to all our guests for their support and to the members of SI Morecambe and Heysham who, once again, provided an array of delicious food. The raffle raised a substantial amount for the Regional President’s charity.
