Soroptimists Nantwich & District all ready for the Societies Spectacular in Nantwich town Centre on Saturday 16th July. We were collecting new pants and lightly used bras forTeam4u’s Develop with Dignity (http://teams4u.com/develop-with-dignity-2/) which helps girl in Uganda stay in school.
We had a productive day in spite of the rain, with a good footfall through most of the day. Six people signed up to receive more information about our Organisation, while several others engaged in lengthy, interested conversations on the work we do and went away enthused and intrigued. One woman, who had a particular interest in Anti-Slavery and Violence Against Women, also works for the local Council and we may have the beginning of a mutually beneficial relationship.
The Mayor or Nantwich stopped by and was really interested in our project work, he said that he would be happy to attend future events if we ask.
Our bunting of bras and knickers was definitely eye catching and brought people to our stall to find out what it was all about. One thing we did learn, however – if it is a rainy day, be careful. Bras collect water in the cups which, when nudged by umbrellas, dumps the water on your head!
