Charter Lunch 2017
Soroptimist Nantwich & District held their Charter Lunch 11th June celebrating 68 years of their Charter.
The excellent lunch was held at Crewe Golf Club and President Pat Harborth welcomed her guests which included Region President Denny Owen, members from Region Cheshire North Wales & Wirral, and club members and their partners and friends
Regional President Denny in proposing the toast to Soroptimist International praised the club for our various projects including our work for the Purple Tear Drop Campaign. The main guest speaker was Pats daughter Julia, Lieutenant Commander Julia Rogers RN who told us with accompanying photographs of her love of aircraft, joining the Royal Navy and progressing to be a helicopter pilot. She told us about some of her very challenging postings and her early experiences as a girl in a traditional man’s world. Now with children of her own she is working on diversity issues in the Navy.
The afternoon closed with a musical interlude on a xylophone by Pat’s grandson Dan Kimberley a percussionist who has played with the National Youth Orchestra he gave us two pieces one by Bach & one by Mozart rounding off a very successful charter anniversary.
