“Flowers at the Opera” in aid of NPT Child Contact Centre – 29th June 2017

On the 29th June, SI Neath held an event at Neath Athletic Rugby and Football Club called “Flowers at the Opera”.

The Charity

The event took place to raise money for Neath Port Talbot Child Contact Centre. The role of the Contact Centre is to facilitate contact with children following parental separation.

There are around 350 child contact centres and services located throughout England , Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. It is the largest in Europe.

Child contact centres and services are neutral places where children of separated families can enjoy contact with their non-resident parents and sometimes other family members, in a comfortable and safe environment.

Over six thousand volunteers and two thousand staff work in these centres and thousands of children use them each year.

They are run by a variety of independent organisations that form the membership of NACCC, along with affiliated members such as family lawyers, CAFCASS, CAFCASS CYMRU and the judiciary.

The Event

The Event focussed around two areas of Art. That of Operatic Music and flower arranging.

Jonathan Lloyd Davies, Master Florist, made some gorgeous floral displays whilst talented Soprano Sally Kingsbury sang to operatic arias to which Jonathan’s pieces were depicting. Sally was accompanied by Pianist Geraint Williams.

The evening was a wonderful success in which SI Neath raised a massive £904.41 for NPT Child Contact Centre.
