About Our Club
Newcastle and District Club was formed in 1964 with The Charter Dinner held in the Sutherland Suite at Trentham Gardens on 25th September and we celebrated our 45th Anniversary in 2009 with a service of thanksgiving at St Thomas’s Church in The Woods, Butterton, Newcastle.
Soroptimists are women with a social conscience who want to make a difference by giving service, sharing friendship and having fun.
We meet on the third and fourth Tuesdays of the month. the third Tuesday is a Business meeting at 7pm s at Newcastle Community Fire Station. The fourth Tuesday is a speaker meetings with a meal at 7pm at Newcastle Gold Club, to which visitors are welcome.
Our President chooses the charities that she wishes to support. We undertake our fund raising in many ways, but we all enjoy it together with the friendship and fellowship that we have, being members of this wonderful organisation.
The Club is active raising money for local and international projects and helping with service and support in the local community. Details of our current activities and projects can be found on the Project Action page.
Over the past ten years, we as a club have raised and donated over £33000, which included local and overseas work. Details of the local charities supported can be found on the Donations page
