Fylde Soroptimists Celebrate 80 Years and 100 Twinned Toilets!! Members and friends enjoyed a wonderful dinner at the Glendower Hotel in St Annes to celebrate 80 years of Soroptimism on the Fylde.  Fylde Soroptimists were chartered on St George’s Day in 2017 and have dedicated over 80 years to their service work, educating and empowering women and girls worldwide and helping communities locally, nationally and internationally. Guests travelled from far and wide to attend this landmark event for the Club, with members from friendship links in Skipton and Tynedale, guests and members from Penrith and many parts of the UK and from Spain.  Fourteen former Presidents of the Club also attended. The celebrations were formally started by Fylde Town Crier, Colin Ballard, who greeted guests as they arrived for Prosecco and canapes and then called them into dinner in his traditional way.  The toast to

Fylde Soroptimist Challenge Badge Fylde Soroptimists are delighted to launch a Soroptimist Challenge Badge in collaboration with a local guiding group, Amounderness FY Rangers.   These unofficial guiding badges are created on a regular basis with guiding groups and partner organisations (Sealife have recently done an environmental one) and they go international via the Guiding network – but are the result of local partnerships. The Soroptimist Challenge Badge is the culmination of two years’ work by both partners, creating a series of challenges – 33 in all – for all age groups to include Rainbows through to Senior Rangers.  The challenges range from researching Soroptimism to knitting poppies; completing word quizzes; undertaking creative activities; carrying out a community project;  and learning about different aspects of both organisations.  The badge, which was designed by one of the young Rangers, will help promote Soroptimism to all youth groups

The Crofters Hotel - 17 February 2018 The Welcome was given by Viv Wojciechowski, the President of S I Blackburn. We stood in silence in memory of Brenda Lyndon Escreet, Dorothy Smith, Nancy Hornby, Jean Knight and Ivy Crossley. The minutes of the previous meeting were amended by President Maureen and will be reissued. A long discussion followed about No 63. Andrea Baker read out an amendment which had been issued by the Board of No 63. Jean Priestley suggested that as some of us had not seen this amendment that this was circulated to all the clubs before we were asked to vote. Ranking Activity. Joan Bailey had prepared a table of boxes and several options as to the importance of why we are a member. Most of us chose “improving the lives of women and girls” plus “making a difference” in the top

Press Release Fylde Soroptimists are forging ahead with their “80 for 80” Toilet Twinning project and are well on their way to securing the twinning of 80 toilets within the Fylde Borough.  This means that £4,800 will go towards the provision of sanitation and hygiene education in places such as Nepal, Cambodia and some African countries where conditions are particularly dangerous to health, which, in turn, will enable better education for the children in these areas. They have been supported in the project by Mark Menzies, MP, Fylde Borough Council, Lytham Hall, Freckleton Social Club, No. 10 Ale House, the Glendower Hotel and St Annes Parish Church – all of whom have twinned their toilets. Fylde Soroptimists are also working in close contact with the pupils at AKS and they have been doing some amazing fundraising activities, resulting in the twinning of eleven toilets at
