VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN

VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN

in

A staggering 1 in 3 women world- wide have experienced physical or sexual violence. In recognition of this fact, the United Nations Secretary General launched a campaign to raise public awareness and to try to bring about change, running from 25th November to 10th December. Orange was chosen by the UN as the international colour to symbolise a brighter future without violence. As part of this campaign, SI Northallerton joined forces with a York based non- profit making organisation, IDAS (Independent Domestic Abuse Services) to raise awareness on a local level. Together, we mounted an orange display in our local Community Volunteer Services Shop window with publicity material highlighting our organisations and importantly, the help we can offer. The display ran for the length of the campaign.
