Our Clubs

Our clubs in Northern Ireland are active in many ways.

Some of our projects are long-term.

The Youth Public Speaking award involves every club in running a heat in their own area followed by a Regional Final. This event encourages young women to develop their public speaking and presentation skills and has run for many years.

Our Centenary tree planting also involved our whole region. Every club agreed to plant trees

Some were planted in schools, some in parks and public places in memory of friends and some clubs planted a forest.

Clubs regularly carry out beach cleans and litter picks in their own areas and some go Balsam bashing as well. Many are active in encouraging recycling.

Our clubs work closely with Women’s Aid, Migrant Help and charities for the homeless responding to needs as they arise.

This year we have provided towels, prams, suitcases plus toiletries and kitchen packs as requested. Bikes have been provided to help people access education.

Others work closely with their local foodbanks.

Throughout the year events are arranged to educate and raise public awareness of important issues and fund raise for specific projects. Recent events include afternoon tea, table quiz, and a breakfast where Naomi Long MLA spoke on Domestic violence legislation in the province.

Members use their practical skills to knit Trauma teddies, sew and provide sanitary products for girls in Africa and plant a sensory garden for an addiction charity.

One member has been able to mentor a woman who had escaped after being trafficked and her club now supports a local safe refuge.

We hope to celebrate International Women’s Day together in March and Inspire inclusion.
