Carlton Male Voice Choir Concert Raises the roof

choir of men in yellow jacketsCarlton Male Voice Choir raised the roof at Beeston Parish Church  in a concert organised by Nottingham Soroptimists as part of our 80th anniversary celebrations, and in the process raised £1,149 for Cecily’s fund.

Cecily’s fund raises money for the education of children orphaned by HIV/AIDS in Zambia. It was co-founded by Alison and Basil Eastwood after their daughter, Cecily, was sadly killed in a road accident during her ‘gap year’ working with these children.

Since that time Soroptimists in Nottingham have raised many thousands of pounds for charities for the benefit of women and girls both locally and in developing countries.  Service in the community is also important.  Last year Soroptimists also carried out 1000 hours of community service for local women’s organisations including the Women’s Centre and the Child Contact Centre.
