The theme for 2020 is \u201cOrange the World: Fund, Respond, Prevent, Collect!\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Each of the 16 days we celebrate marks a step towards women\u2019s rights and a safe space for them.\u00a0 Soroptimist International believes that women\u2019s rights are human rights and through our work in the communities we work with that objective.<\/p>\n<p>SI Peterborough President, Jessica Barton, says: \u201cAdvocacy plays such a huge part in what we do, particularly with Covid-19 restricting our fundraising efforts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMarking these 16 days of activism is our way of creating public awareness about what needs to change, and to prevent it from happening in the first place at local, national, regional and international levels.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Beginning with the International Day for Elimination of Violence Against Women on 25th November, Soroptimists follow UN Days to transform lives of women and girls.<\/p>\n<p>We rally against:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Child marriages<\/li>\n<li>Human trafficking<\/li>\n<li>Modern day slavery<\/li>\n<li>Rape<\/li>\n<li>Sexual exploitation<\/li>\n<li>Female genital mutilation<\/li>\n<li>Human rights defenders<\/li>\n<li>Sexual harassment at the workplace.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On 10th December, the last day, we honour the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
