2018 President Lynne has agreed to  carry on for another year and we are all delighted.

S.I.Pontypridd’s Saint David’s day celebrations  this year took place once again in Llancaiach Fawr Manor and was enjoyed by all. We began our celebration by being welcomed with a daffodil from our President Lynne. We all sat down to a cooked breakfast followed by a talk about the history of Llancaiach. There was a raffle with an abundance of prizes and all profit made on the day will go to the Meru garden project.( This is to help women led households in Kenya )

On 6th June we held a sound bath session.We all enjoyed relaxing to music

On 18th-April 2016 President Ann handed over the chain to incoming President Lynne Fortunately most of the other officers carried on with their roles for a further year.

St David’s Day 2016

This year our St David’s Day celebration  was held In Llancaiach Fawr we had a lovely breakfast while we were serenaded by Eleri Dawkins who played the harp .This was followed by a talk from Lee one of the staff members who told us about life in the seventeen hundreds It was really informative and enjoyed immensely Ffion from Fair Trade came along with a selection of their merchandise (This was very appropriate as it is Fair Trade fortnight)

 

Our concert in St David’s church in aid of Bangl Cymru was a resounding success Cor Meirion Pontyprdd and harpist Eleri Darkins were wonderful. The regional President Sue Walker attended and we even had visitors from Canada who especially wanted to hear a Welsh male voice choir. Dr Jhisu who was visiting from Bangladesh came along with Will Morris Jones and the evening was enjoyed by all. [new_royalslider id=”12″]

 

On 5th September SI Pontypridd were awarded a programme action certificate as finalists in the Empower Category for their project to help Bangla -Cymru President Ann accepted the certificate from Glenys Kinnock but all credit must go to all club members who have worked hard on this project especially PA  reps Ceri and Pam who wrote up the presentation and Edwina who presented it admirably.

Nici Evans came along to our meeting to give an interesting talk on human trafficking in Wales

In May we held a quiz in Cables bar,we are very grateful to Dan Taylor (Elaine’s son in law) who was our question master.It was a most enjoyable evening attended by most of our members along with members from region and other Soroptimist clubs as well as family and friends.We charged an entrance fee and had a raffle which raised money for our charities.

Our annual Saint David’s day celebration at St Fagans was a great success as was our Xmas Fayre in Nelson.

The concert in Pontypridd was a wonderful evening enabling us to fund the health visitor for Bangla Cymru,

Sarah Jayne from John Lewis store Cardiff was enjoyed by all and has been invited back in June.

Club member Lynne Tidmarsh entertained us talking about Gems and Jewellery which was very informative.
