S.I. Pontypridd had their annual summer meal at the Casa Mia in Caerphilly, unfortunately on six people could make it. However we all enjoyed a wonderful meal and fantastic views overlooking Caerphilly castle

Soroptimist Regional meeting February 2019 Pontypridd & district dress up to celebrate International Woman’s day

President Lynne and Ann attended the regional A.G.M. and fun day last Saturday 23rd June at Village hotel Swansea followed  after lunch by an enjoyable hour of two chatting with other Soroptimists and arranging flowers.

Our AGM was held on Monday 23rd April at the University of Wales in Treforest.Much to our deleight Lynne agreed to be our president for another year, she summed up her past year by giving a short speech.

On International Woman’s day some of our members met up with other groups from the area to celebrate,chat and promote Pontypridd Soroptimist club

On September 22nd S.I. Pontypridd hosted a musical evening at St Davids uniting church It was a fabulous evening enjoyed by all The proceeds of the evening were in aid of Bangla Cymru.

Our President Lynne presented flowers and a cheque to  Rhian who came to talk to us about her charity 2 wish upon a star.Our members found what she had to tell us very moving and we were delighted to help such a worthwhile cause Members were also pleased to wish Lynne congratulations and best wishes on her first wedding anniversary

 S.I. Pontypridd and district held their A.G.M.on April 24th followed by a lovely meal. Four members were given long service certificates by President Lynne and we were pleased to welcome two new members

International women’s day was celebrated by Pontypridd club.We met at Alfred’s for lunch then went along to Pontypridd museum.There were speakers from Rotary, Y Bont  and author Catrina Collier followed by coffee and cakes,a great afternoon.

Elaine Davies would like everyone to know that she is now home from hospital and doing well. We are all pleased that Elaine is on the mend and look forward to seeing her in the New Year.

 Pontypridd and district held a very successful afternoon tea at Princes cafe Pontypridd in aid of breast cancer. Regional president Bobby attended with her husband along with Soroptimist members and friends.

Congratulations to S.I.Pontypridd President Lynne and her fiancé Levent who got married on 19th September 2016

On Friday 23rd September S.I.Pontypridd & district are holding a concert in aid of Bangla Cymru This event will be taking place at St David’s Uniting Church Gelliwastad Road Pontypridd (CF37 2 BW) and will feature Pontypridd male voice choir and Arabic dancing Tickets are £5 and available from Ceri Landers on

Pontypridd and district Soroptimists are holding a sound bath session with Gail Stewart on Monday 6th June 7.00p.m. at the University of South Wales Treforest campus (students union building ) Why not come along and join us? Tickets are £7 .50 bring a yoga mat or rug to lie on, or sit comfortably in a chair.

 

A few of us went along to the Mayors charity event in aid of dementia 

Many of our members knitted poppies that sold for £1.50 each,the money to be given to the British Legion. The poppies were very popular some were sold out in Abu Dhabi with one being presented to the British Ambassador.

One of our members Ann Lawthom MBE died on Sunday 13th December she
had cancer and was told it was terminal almost 2 years ago but fought
hard to keep going and was always bright and cheerful. Ann was an ex
headmistress of a school for children with special needs,she was well
known and very popular in our area.
There will be a service inSt Anne’s church Ynyshir on Wednesday 23rd
December at 11.30am and then Glyntaf Cremation at 12.45 pm,
Ann requested that mourners wear black and bling.

Due to alterations taking place at St. Fagans, this year’s St. David’s Day breakfast will take place at Llancaiach Fawr Manor. There will be a speaker and entertainment from a harpist.
