{"id":52,"date":"2009-06-04T18:56:28","date_gmt":"2009-06-04T17:56:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/soroptimist-gbi.co.uk\/port-talbot\/?page_id=52"},"modified":"2025-10-11T09:35:12","modified_gmt":"2025-10-11T08:35:12","slug":"52-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/port-talbot\/","title":{"rendered":"A Warm Welcome to Our Site"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2>Welcome to SI Port Talbot<\/h2>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Our club consists of a group of 23 friendly and lively women from all sectors of the community, bringing a wealth of knowledge and life experience to our activities.\u00a0 We work together using our various skills and talents to make a difference to the lives of others.\u00a0 We do this through awareness-raising, lobbying, practical help and fund-raising.<\/p>\n<p>We were formed in 1948 and Chartered on 17th March 1949 so, this is our 77th year.\u00a0 If you would like to know more about us please have a look at our history <a href=\"\/port-talbot\/files\/2019\/06\/2019-club-history-2.pdf\">2019 club history<\/a><\/p>\n<p>We meet<strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff\"> twice a month at the Aberavon Beach Hotel &#8211; 2nd and 4th Thursday evening<\/span><\/strong>. Once for a club business meeting and the second for a speaker, fundraising, project work or just a convivial get-together. At some of these meetings we have dinner at the hotel. We do not normally meet in August.<\/p>\n<p>The last major event that we planned was our fashion show, which was held in Margam Park on 10th June 2025.\u00a0 We had gorgeous clothes modelled and presented by Miss Jones Boutique of Neath, a scrumptious two course lunch, raffle and stalls on entry.\u00a0 The event is extremely popular, and it helped us raise funds for our charities &#8211; to which every penny made was donated.\u00a0 To read our full write-up of the event have a look in our <strong><em>past events<\/em><\/strong> page.<\/p>\n<p>Please do have a look at the rest of our site and, if you are interested in what we do, we would love to meet you.\u00a0 Get in touch and come and meet us.
