{"id":4512,"date":"2020-06-03T17:43:12","date_gmt":"2020-06-03T16:43:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/preston\/?p=4512"},"modified":"2020-06-03T17:43:53","modified_gmt":"2020-06-03T16:43:53","slug":"si-preston-and-the-pandemic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/preston\/2020\/06\/03\/si-preston-and-the-pandemic\/","title":{"rendered":"SI Preston and the pandemic"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>So what have we been doing during lockdown?<\/h2>\n<p>Well, we&#8217;ve have a business meeting via teleconference facility and it wasn&#8217;t the total chaos that it could have been.\u00a0 Mainly due to the strict management of our new secretary, Barbara.\u00a0 The exec has held a Zoom executive meeting too.\u00a0 Members have kept in touch with each other with phone calls and emails.<!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>What about our project work?<\/h2>\n<p>We&#8217;ve not been idle.\u00a0 We have sent Hope from our Home &#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;..\u00a0 \u00a3200 to our local <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.salvationarmy.org.uk\/news\/salvation-armys-preston-foodbank-sees-demand-double-amid-coronavirus-pandemic\">Salvation Army<\/a> <\/em>for the foodbank giving hope to those in need of support during this awful time.\u00a0 Several members have sent letters, cards and poems to residents of care homes with the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.healthierlsc.co.uk\/CardsForKindness\">Cards for Kindness<\/a> <\/em>initiative. And we have filled bags with toiletries (and chocolate!) and given them to the Foxton Centre for street workers and to Clare House, the local women&#8217;s refuge.\u00a0 We hope that everyone will know that we care.<\/p>\n<p>If you would like to come and help us support these worthy causes or would like to know more about our club then please <a href=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/preston\/contact-us\/\"><em>contact us.<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So what have we been doing during lockdown?
