{"id":4692,"date":"2026-08-12T07:32:25","date_gmt":"2026-08-12T06:32:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/preston\/?p=4692"},"modified":"2026-08-12T07:32:25","modified_gmt":"2026-08-12T06:32:25","slug":"back-to-basics-supporting-girls","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/preston\/2026\/08\/12\/back-to-basics-supporting-girls\/","title":{"rendered":"Back to Basics &#8211; Supporting Girls"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/preston\/files\/2026\/08\/BBFC-Anya.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-4693 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/preston\/files\/2026\/08\/BBFC-Anya-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/preston\/files\/2026\/08\/fisokuhle-lynn.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-4698 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/preston\/files\/2026\/08\/fisokuhle-lynn-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve gone back to our fundamental principal with these two projects:<\/p>\n<p>A local grassroots football team recently started up a Girls\u00a0 U10sTeam.\u00a0 It&#8217;s been so successful they&#8217;ve increased the teams to cover a larger age range from 7s upwards.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a really fantastic initiative.\u00a0 The girls have made life long friends. learnt how to work as a team.\u00a0 They are full of energy, so enthusiastic (as are the mums and dads) and really professional.\u00a0 How could we not support them.\u00a0 We simply made a donation but &#8211; we were told it made such a big difference.\u00a0 They have purchased some U7s goal posts.<\/p>\n<p>Our club supports the small, volunteer run charity Partners in Education Swaziland (PIES) who have 2 feeding centres.\u00a0 They also support youngsters not able to go to school as educations isn&#8217;t free in Eswatini.\u00a0 So, we sponsored Fisokuhle, a bright young girl, through her final 2 years at high school.<\/p>\n<p>She&#8217;s in the middle of her last year now and we know that she will be very successful in her exams.\u00a0 We are very proud of\u00a0 her and so glad that we were able to help her and maybe, just maybe, change her life.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; We&#8217;ve gone back to our fundamental principal with these two projects:&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":296,"featured_media":4698,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[3,9],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-4692","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-club-news","category-whats-the-lates"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.4 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>Back to Basics - Supporting Girls | News | Blog | Events | SI Preston<\/title>\n<meta name=\"description\" content=\"SI Preston : Blog &amp; News : Back to Basics - Supporting Girls : Keep up to date with the latest news, articles and events from the Soroptimists of SI Preston .
