Lending a Hand<\/p>\n<\/div><\/header>[vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_column_text]Why?<\/strong>
\nThe second wave of COVID pandemic impacted India hugely. Due to Lockdown, economic activities were highly curtailed. Underprivileged communities especially women and children were impacted the most.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”10px”][vc_column_text]What?<\/strong><\/p>\n

  • SI Poona provided Financial Support plus Food and Health support during the COVID Pandemic. Food grains, lentils, oil, sugar, onions and other essentials were distributed in two slum localities in Pune. The recipients were mostly women, wives of daily wage construction workers who have lost their jobs as a result of the countrywide lockdown in the aftermath of the Covid-19 crisis.<\/li>\n
  • SI Pune members also helped the onion farmers, who grow this crop widely in this region sell their produce. They have been unable to transport
    \nthem to the city markets, due to the lockdown. Each recipient in the slum was given two kilograms of onions, directly bought from the farmers. SI
    \nmembers also purchased large quantities of onions for their friends and family and helped out by selling most of their produce.<\/li>\n
  • Grain distribution was carried out in the red zone of Laxminagar, Yerwada at the other end of Pune, in collaboration with two private donors. Food items and other essentials to suffice for the next two months were handed over to sixty below poverty line and single women headed families. Most of these families have lost their livelihood due to the lockdown<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    \nWe also provided safety to school children and the needs to protect against infection from COVID. We got 500 masks (with branding of SI Poona) and distributed to children and teachers of 2 village schools, and also to the needy with grain distribution project.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”10px”][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1\/2″][vc_single_image image=”4921″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1\/2″][vc_single_image image=”4922″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_empty_space height=”10px”][vc_column_text]Imapct<\/strong><\/p>\n

    • Food and water needs of women,children,young girls were covered during the Lockdown period thereby promoting their nutrition and health.<\/li>\n
    • Safety measures were provided to young girls and their families against infection from COVID<\/li>\n
    • Sustainability of economic activity in families of farmers due to support in buying their produce.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
