Young Woman Achiever Award 2018

WE HAVE A WINNER!

OUR WINNER EMMA GREENWOOD WAS PRESENTED WITH HER TROPHY AND PRIZE AT OUR QUIZ NIGHT AT RAMSBOTTOM CRICKET CLUB ON 15TH MARCH AT 7;30PM

Pictured here with President Jean receiving her award.

She attends Woodhey High School in Ramsbottom and was nominated by the school for her community service work.

She is described as a most pleasant and thoughtful young lady who has from day one at Woodhey stood out as someone who represents the voice of all pupils. She is extremely focused and passionate about helping other people and her environmental work is a real credit to her.

She is the leader of the ECO Club at Woodhey and organises weekly meetings during the lunch hour which are well attended. She runs this without direct staff supervision and her range of resources and presentations are outstanding.

She is a member of the ‘ Plastic Free Rammy’ campaign and also a member of the ‘Ramsbottom Litter Picker’ group who have started a campaign to tidy up certain areas in the local community. In school she is also a member of School Council, a school librarian, Form Captain and helps out at Parents and Open Evenings at school as well as helping younger pupils at the school’s Accelerated Reading Scheme.

To top all this she has very recently been elected as Bury’s member of the UK Youth Parliament on a ticket of improving young peoples’ mental health; improving Bury’s environment and getting cheaper transport for under 16’s.
