<strong>Level 5\u00a0 &#8211;\u00a0 Outstanding<\/strong>, the highest level in the RHS Sponsored Neighbourhood category. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 18px\"><strong>Wales in Bloom Neighbourhood Award 2024<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif\">Awarded <strong>Level 4 \u2013 Thriving<\/strong>\u00a0for the re-development and continued maintenance of the Courtyard Garden at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd.\u00a0 The Wales in Bloom committee had received record entries this year and\u00a0 the Award Ceremony was hosted by Abergavenny Town Council on Friday 13<sup>th<\/sup> September at the Angel Hotel.\u00a0 We were thrilled to be nominated and recognised for our commitment to the garden.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif\"><strong><em>Project Description of Activities:<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif\">The project was initiated by Soroptimist International Rhyl &amp; District to design and restructure the garden courtyard area outside of the cafeteria.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif\">The aim of the project was to provide a garden area that benefits patients, hospital visitors and staff during times of high emotion, uncertainty, stress and potential anguish. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif\">Such areas have a positive impact on users and can contribute to patient\u2019s recovery, mindfulness and wellbeing.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif\">We met with the tutor and students at Coleg Cambria Horticultural Department to discuss ideas and designs for the garden.\u00a0 <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif\">The students visited the courtyard garden and measured the plots and took soil samples.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif\">A design and planting scheme was agreed.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif\">The maintenance staff at the hospital prepared the ground and laid sleepers in order to raise the flower beds.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif\">Regular ongoing maintenance of the Courtyard Garden is undertaken by volunteer members of SI Rhyl &amp; District.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif\">Working in partnership with the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, the Horticultural Section of Coleg Cambria, together with funding from Conwy Voluntary Services Council,\u00a0 Denbighshire Voluntary Services Council and the Rhyl Community Partnership.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif\"><a href=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/rhyl-and-district\/files\/2023\/05\/NHS.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\"
