Programme Objectives 2011-2015<\/h1>\n

Soroptimist International Great Britain and Ireland (SIGBI) works to the goals and objectives agreed by all parts of Soroptimist International (SI), the umbrella organisation.\u00a0 These goals and objectives are called the \u201cProgramme Focus\u201d and they provide the structure, or \u201cfocus\u201d of all our project work.\u00a0 Against each objective under Goal 1 is listed (in brackets) the programme area that covers it, which links to the appropriate webpage, where you can read more about the work being undertaken in this area.<\/p>\n

Programme Goals and Objectives:
\n<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Goal 1: Soroptimist International will improve the lives and status of women and girls through education, empowerment or enabling opportunities.<\/h3>\n

Objectives:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Increase access to formal and non-formal learning opportunities<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  2. Improve access to economic empowerment<\/a> and sustainable opportunities for the employment of women.<\/li>\n
  3. Eliminate violence<\/a> against women and girls and ensure women\u2019s participation in conflict resolution<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  4. Ensure women and girls have food security<\/a> and access to the highest attainable standard of health care<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  5. Address the specific needs of women and girls by improving environmental sustainability<\/a>, and mitigating effects of climate change and disasters.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Goal 2: Soroptimist International will be a global voice for increasing access to education and leadership for women and girls.<\/h3>\n

    Objectives:<\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    1. \n
      Strengthen and increase Soroptimist International\u2019s presence as an advocate at all levels.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
    2. \n
      Intensify activities and partnerships that raise the international profile and visibility of Soroptimist International.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
    3. \n
      Ensure that the foundation of Soroptimist International\u2019s global advocacy is local and global project activity.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Good projects cover several, if not most, Programme Areas.\u00a0 Assistant Programme Directors are responsible for each of the Programme Areas: Economic Empowerment<\/a>, Environmental Sustainability<\/a>, Food Security and Healthcare<\/a>, Learning Opportunities<\/a> and Violence and Conflict Resolution<\/a>.<\/p>\n

      The Assistant Programme Directors work with the Federation Programme Director<\/a>, as a co-ordinated team<\/a>.<\/p>\n
