{"id":245,"date":"2014-02-08T17:47:11","date_gmt":"2014-02-08T17:47:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/rossendale\/?page_id=245"},"modified":"2020-04-08T12:57:47","modified_gmt":"2020-04-08T11:57:47","slug":"supporting-children-of-separated-families","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/rossendale\/what-do-rossendale-soroptomists-do\/activities-to-support-our-local-community\/supporting-children-of-separated-families\/","title":{"rendered":"Supporting children of separated families"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=&#8221;250&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221;][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p>Members of SI\u00a0Rossendale\u00a0help to run the East Lancashire Child Contact Centre.<\/p>\n<p>Child contact centres are neutral places where children of separated families can enjoy contact with their non-resident parents and sometimes other family members, in a comfortable and safe environment.<\/p>\n<p>SI\u00a0Rossendale\u00a0members help to provide supported contact where there are facilities to enable children to develop and maintain positive relationships with non-resident parents and other family members.<\/p>\n<p>This role requires that we are impartial, caring, tolerant, sensitive, flexible, discreet and reliable. We must always put children&#8217;s needs first and not take sides with either parent or any other adults involved in the contact.<b><i>\u00a0<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Our Club Member Carol who volunteers at the Contact Centre said &#8220;I find the time I spend at the Contact Centre very rewarding. The Contact Centre facility would not operate without volunteers. Children&#8217;s life experiences are precious and if they are to grow to be rounded, caring people they should be given ever
