{"id":567,"date":"2018-08-14T10:11:41","date_gmt":"2018-08-14T09:11:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/rossendale\/?p=567"},"modified":"2018-09-10T10:13:23","modified_gmt":"2018-09-10T09:13:23","slug":"our-lancashire-themed-charity-fundraiser","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/rossendale\/2018\/08\/14\/our-lancashire-themed-charity-fundraiser\/","title":{"rendered":"Our Lancashire Themed Charity Fundraiser"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last week, on 7th August 2018, SI Rossendale hosted a charity fundraiser event in aid of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.safespacependle.org.uk\/\"><em>SafeSpace Rossendale<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The event was held at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sykesidecountryhousehotel.co.uk\/\"><em>Sykeside Country House Hotel<\/em><\/a> and was a &#8216;Lancashire&#8217; themed evening, filled with fun, food and friendship.\u00a0<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The event was organised as both a Friendship Evening and a fundraiser, hence as well as the members of SI Rossendale, our guests on the night included members from other local clubs and SIGBI President, Sue Biggs.<\/p>\n<p>Entertainment was put on by Shirley &amp; Ron, who held a sing-along session of Lancashire songs, which everyone thoroughly enjoyed and it certainly gave our singing voices an airing!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-568\" src=\"\/rossendale\/files\/2018\/08\/IMG-20180818-WA0000-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"Charity Fundraiser\" width=\"950\" height=\"713\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/rossendale\/files\/2018\/08\/IMG-20180818-WA0000-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/sigbi.org\/rossendale\/files\/2018\/08\/IMG-20180818-WA0000-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/sigbi.org\/rossendale\/files\/2018\/08\/IMG-20180818-WA0000-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/sigbi.org\/rossendale\/files\/2018\/08\/IMG-20180818-WA0000.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 950px) 100vw, 950px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The traditional Lancashire pie and pea supper was provided by the Sykeside Hotel and Restaurant, who put on a delicious spread as ever.<\/p>\n<p>We also held a raffle, with some fabulous prizes being donated by local businesses and those in attendance too.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-569\" src=\"\/rossendale\/files\/2018\/08\/IMG-20180818-WA0003-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Soroptimists, SI Rossendale, Charity Fundraiser\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/rossendale\/files\/2018\/08\/IMG-20180818-WA0003-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/sigbi.org\/rossendale\/files\/2018\/08\/IMG-20180818-WA0003-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/sigbi.org\/rossendale\/files\/2018\/08\/IMG-20180818-WA0003.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After a fun and busy night, we managed to raise \u00a3200 for our chosen charity, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.safespacependle.org.uk\/\"><em>SafeSpace, Rossendale<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Safe Space, a project organised and run by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.p-a-c.org.uk\/\"><em>Positive Action in Communities<\/em><\/a>, provide\u00a0fully furnished flats for 16 to 21 year olds, who are either homeless or are at risk of becoming homeless.
