Our Club project work is both local and International.<\/h2>\n

By holding a variety of fundraising events we support these projects:<\/h4>\n

Halton Haven Hospice<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Our local Hospice, like many others needs constant help with funding. It is vital to our community so we support it with donations from our fundraising events.<\/p>\n

Halton Women\u2019s Aid <\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Club supports Halton Women\u2019s Refuge by donating new towels and toiletries. \u201cIt is so nice to have my own brand new towels and toiletries for me and the children.\u201d This remark was passed on by one of the women when she arrived at the centre. Our most recent donations to the Refuge were bedding sets – duvets, pillows, duvet covers and pillow cases.<\/p>\n

Mastectomy Cushions<\/strong><\/h3>\n

This is an ongoing project.\u00a0 Members have produced special cushions designed to provide pain relief and remove discomfort following mastectomies. These have been passed on to the breast cancer wards at Countess of Chester Hospital and Warrington and Halton Hospital\u00a0 or to women known to us who have undergone surgery.<\/p>\n

Modern Day Slavery <\/strong><\/h3>\n

Whenever possible the Club helps with awareness raising and fundraising activities for victims of human trafficking. Funds raised are given to the Salvation Army. We have made donations of warm clothing and Christmas gifts to City Hearts to support their work with trafficked victims.<\/p>\n

Water and Sanitation<\/strong><\/h3>\n

We regularly support Water Aid<\/a> by circulating a water jug at our meetings into which members put the 5 pence pieces or other small change they have collected.<\/p>\n

We also raise funds for Toilet Twinning<\/a> \u2013 to date we have raised enough funds to twin four toilets in remote parts of Africa and Asia.<\/p>\n

Marys Meals<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Mary\u2019s Meals <\/a>\u00a0aims to provide chronically hungry children from poor and war torn parts of the world\u00a0with one meal every school day, encouraging education that can lift them out of poverty in later life. It costs just \u00a313.90 to provide school meals for one child for a whole school year.<\/p>\n

Other work<\/h3>\n

The Club also takes part in consultation by local bodies on an ad hoc<\/em> basis, and responds to requests for funding as our resources allow. Please contact us<\/a> via this website in the first instance.<\/p>\n
