This was a super event enjoyed by all who attended. We were really pleased to welcome Region Vice President and PA Officer Gillie O&#8217;Rourke to our club.<\/p>\n<p>All members were asked to bring a &#8216;Picnic Tea&#8217; which included Fairtrade and local produce, and many interesting items were used &#8211; Fairtrade quinoa, almonds and dried fruit along with much loved favourite bananas and chocolate. Last year we had worked on a project to improve Food Supply Chains, ensuring they were free from exploitation and trafficking &#8211; our findings encouraged us to buy Fairtrade and locally grown products.\u00a0We produced a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/runcorn-frodsham-and-district\/files\/2022\/05\/Calendar-of-Local-and-Seasonal-Produce.pdf\">Calendar of Local and Seasonal Produce <\/a>&#8211; Cheshire local produce is bountiful at the moment and we enjoyed tomatoes asparagus, eggs and wonderful Cheshire potatoes.<\/p>\n<p>Sarah had prepared an interesting Fair-trade and climate change quiz, and we were pleased to present Gillie with the winning prize.<\/p>\n<p>We were able to raise considerable funds for <a href=\"https:\/\/traidcraftexchange.org\">Traidcraft Exchange<\/a> a Fairtrade organisation which\u00a0brings people together to fight injustice in trade, using the power of trade to create sustainable solutions to poverty.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fairtrade and Local Produce &#8211; From Farm to Table The first event in our new&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":559,"featured_media":4617,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[3],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-4614","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-club-news"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.4 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>Fairtrade picnic | News | Blog | Events | SI Runcorn, Frodsham and District<\/title>\n<meta name=\"description\" content=\"SI Runcorn, Frodsham and District : Blog &amp; News : Fairtrade picnic : Keep up to date with the latest news, articles and events from the Soroptimists of SI Runcorn, Frodsham and District .
