Borrowing an idea from other Clubs in our Region, we made inquiries at Salisbury District Hospital as to whether overnight bags with essential toiletries would be useful. The volunteer co-ordinator suggested they would be much appreciated by female patients in Durrington Ward, who attend hospital for a routine day procedure and unexpectedly are required to stay overnight for observation or treatment.
All members of the Salisbury group contributed to the call for help – soaps, shampoo, conditioner, shower gels, toothbrushes, toothpaste, flannels, deoderant, combs and body lotion were generously donated.
A packing evening took place at the home of one of our members and in all 22 bags were packed for delivery to the hospital, together with a small gift card explaining who we are and wishing the recipient a comfortable overnight stay.
Another successful project, which will be extended as more bags are requested
