    2024<\/h3>\n

    We continued to work with local organisations. We repeated our streetlight\/dark spaces audit of the city centre including the ring road underpasses. A report was commissioned by the Council to assess the dark spaces we reported and cost improvements. It has been agreed to install a light in Antelope Square – a much used passageway between Brown Street carpark and Catherine Street.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

    2023<\/h1>\n

    We are aiming to involve the wider community in strategies to make the city safer. We revisited the street light audits and reported findings to Wiltshire Council. They have undertaken to pay for a survey of identified dark areas. We have also joined a funding application to have lights and mirrors installed in many underpasses.<\/p>\n

    We have organised a self-defense training at Salisbury Hockey Club and in the Friary.<\/p>\n

    We helped organise another Schools’ Forum<\/a> in November to address Bystander Training and how to deal with online porn.<\/p>\n

    Operation Awake<\/h2>\n

    In conjunction with Wiltshire Police, we launched Operation Awake; a reporting mechanism for women in public life to report online abuse to the police. The police undertook to record such notifications and to investigate those which warranted it. We informed councillors in Wiltshire about the initiative and had many positive responses. We hope this is an initiative which won’t be needed, but are glad it is in place.<\/p>\n

    This initiative was relaunched during Orange the World\/16 days of Activism in December 2024. Emails were sent to all Wiltshire women councilors and other women in public life reminding them to use this if needed.[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator border_width=”6″][vc_column_text]Please click on topic to go to relevant page<\/p>\n
