80th Charter Weekend – June 15th/16th 2019

On Saturday and Sunday, June 15th and 16th, SI Scarborough celebrated 80 years since they were chartered in June 1939.

On Saturday, the joint President, Janine Maw sang with her choir from Malton, the Harmonia choir. The Deputy Mayoress, Councillor Roberta Swiers, attended, along with the SIGBI Federation President, Sue Williams from SI Paisley. The choir sung a wonderful variety of music. There were also songs from a four woman acapella group and Janine sang a beautiful duet with her husband Neville, who also sang a few solos. A delicious and plentiful  buffet was provided by the club in the interval.

On Sunday, a Charter Lunch was held at the Palm Court Hotel. SIGBI Federation President, Sue Willaims attended with Mayor Hazel Lynskey and her son. Four Long Service awards were presented to Jennie Capstick, Aileen Fisher, Helen Hyams and Ann Jones. Club members attended from SI Dewsbury, SI Beverley & District, SI Wakefield, SI Selby, SI Garforth Elmet, SI Bingley, SI Richmond & Dales, SI Harrogate & District.
